Catching up.....

Since my last post we have welcomed our first little girl into the world. She made a rather dramatic entrance attempting to come out cord first, resulting in an emergency c-section under general anesthesia. Thank God for modern medicine and the professionalism and performance of the labor and delivery staff at Boone Hospital Columbia,MO. So I will speed through a few of my projects since then to catch everyone up.

I decided we weren't going to buy a new car seat at the last minute. I really love my graco snugride and we have everything to go with it. I was no longer fond, however, of the print or colors. I decided to stick with a Paris theme but use colors that match our double stroller. All fabrics came from Joann's and I used a few tutorials online as references but mostly winged it. Just think of it as a puzzle, sew overtop of the original material and bias tape will help you out in the end to achieve that finished look!

Keeping with the Paris theme..... We finally finished the nursery! I was so lucky to have my mom hold the fort down and keep me sane for a whole week. She insisted we finish and did a lot of the final touches herself. After getting halfway there I ran out of steam a few weeks before delivery... I will do a seperate blog post on the nursery soon.

Using the leftover scraps from the car seat reupholstery and canopy tent projects (picture not in post) I decided to take a stab at a pillowcase dress. The few tutorials I looked over seemed simple enough. No pattern needed and even though it's chilly I layered her in a long sleeve onesie and tights! The fabric no sew bow tutorial  I found on YouTube...

Last but not least....cake!

The last cake I made was in November which seems like so long ago. So when my dear friend invited us to her sons 5th birthday this weekend I volunteered to do the cake. She said he loves Spiderman and that was it...the wheels of creativity began to turn again. This cake was so fun to make for many reasons, and I'm glad I was able to make it for my friend.

That is where I'm at with things. I have a few more craft ideas up my sleeve but never know when the stars will align to allow the time for them.... Hopefully soon!
